and available options?
A6: Attended and Unattended IPL.
Attended IPL
provides screens to permit you to change System options as part of the
IPL process.
Unattended IPL
- Using the select and enter push buttons behind the panel door on the
front of the AS/400 System, select Normal mode "01 BN"
then press the power button. The user profile settings determine what
occurs during as unattended IPL
session: Whether the AS/400 Main menu is displayed or whether another
menu displays. Whether a program or procedure is run upon sign on. Whether
a current library is inserted into the user's library list.

Q7: What is the significance of a display identifier?
Where is it located?
A7: A display identifier indicates the
label assigned to the terminal being used. The format is DSPnn
where nn is
a two-digit number. The display identifier is found in the upper right
corner of the display screen on the Sign On display.

Q8: What precautions should be taken before
the System is shut down?
A8: Send a message that interrupts all
users to ask them to sign off. Verify that all users are signed off. Check
batch job status. Ensure that no tapes and no disks are in the drives.

A9: Type go power on the Command line
and select Option 4.

A10: Spooled files are generated by
application programs, by user interface and activity such as running queries,

activity during a user's session.

A12: The AS/400 uses controllers to
determine where to set up specific addresses for devices. The operator

address on the port you will actually have the printer connected to.
